Improving the livelihoods of
Geelong people with disabilities
GDP Industries (Geelong Disabled People’s Industries) is an ADE (Australian Disability Enterprise) offering long term supported employment to people with a disability.
We are a not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities Commission and have been operating in Geelong for over 48 years.
As a major recycler in the Geelong area we are looking to expand our range of services.
We provide training, work experience and long-term supported local employment for adults and young people 16 years and over with disabilities.
We also offer work experience to schools such as Geelong Grammar, St Joseph's College and other high schools in the Geelong area. We offer work placement for Justice Department/Office of Corrections clients to fulfill their community service commitments in a light industrial manufacturing environment.
GDP Industries began in 1965 and during that time we have held contracts with some of the largest companies in Geelong, for example we have provided services for Alcoa Australia for 48 years and Ford, Target and One-steel for the past 25 years. However as a number of these companies are closing down in Geelong, GDP Industries are seeking new work opportunities and income streams for our employees who have a disability.
We have also managed and operated the City of Greater Geelong’s Geelong Resource Recovery Centre for the past 21 years and held a beneficial association with the Barwon South West Waste and Resource Recovery Group for the past 14 years.
"GDP Industries is proud to partner with Market Square Shopping Centre and SCR Group to provide the Geelong community witha clothing and small household goods recycling service. The Recycle with Mondo for a Better World recycling station, now located on Level 2 at Market Square provides employment opportunities for GDP Industries. The community can drop off their unwanted clothing, shoes, accessories, kitchenware and mobile phones and we will collect the goods for re-use and recycling," said Gary Haberfield, GDP Industries Operations Manager.
Our goal is environmental sustainability and through our resource recovery operations we are able to upcycle and recycle products, therefore contributing to the reduction of waste to landfill in Geelong and provide our employees with meaningful work experiences.
We welcome the opportunity to partner with organisations to provide services and a variety of employment opportunities for our employees.
