How to avoid using so much plastic!!

By July 19, 2019 September 10th, 2019 No Comments

We all know plastics are terrible for the environment, they take thousands of years to decompose, they end up in the oceans and our food chains and are often just single use items…

Here is a list of what you can do to reduce your plastic use:

  • The Supermarket
Where possible, chose unwrapped food produce.
Bring your own fruit and vegetable bags.
    Buy in bulk if possible.
Go for glass over plastic or chose recycled plastic options when available.
Sign petitions to remove plastics from supermarkets.
  • Cafes and bars
Bring a keep cup for your coffee.
Make your local aware of responsiblecafes.org
Do you really need that straw? If so bring your own reusable straw or just say no!!
  • Party Plastics
Balloons are a big no no, especially when released. Balloons are a mix of plastic and rubber that can last forever, they end up in landfill and oceans breaking into smaller and smaller pieces.
When shopping for gifts, just like the supermarket, bring your own reusable bag, say no to the plastic and paper branded bags.
Use real plates and cutlery .
There are now bio glitter alternatives, avoid plastic glitter for face paint and makeup.

When everyone pitches in, we can start to make a difference to pollution and our environment!
